John Maynard (of Mayfield)

Biography

Of Magdalen Hall Oxford under William Pemble, then Mayfield in Sussex from 1623 — a forty-year ministry in one of the more substantial East Sussex livings. Distinct from the parliamentary lawyer John Maynard. A regular Assembly attender and a member of the committee on baptism, he preached the parliamentary fast sermon A Sermon Preached before the Honourable House of Commons (1646). Ejected from Mayfield in 1662 under the Act of Uniformity; died in 1665.
